Happy Tales - HAPPY, MAVERICK & OLLIE
HAPPY - Gained confidence, joy and function!!
(rescue, extreme physical dysfunction and anxiety)
“I first started Physical Therapy with Mary Kay for my English Setter, Happy, in 2008. Happy was a rescue with many issues ranging from extreme anxiety to back, hip and leg dysfunction. As we continued his therapy, he improved not only physically but also emotionally, gaining confidence and an amazingly joyful personality. He so loved the routine of the various exercises – to the point that, if we weren’t quite ready to begin his favorite, he began the exercise all by himself, much to our delight and that of anyone else watching, and then waited for his special treat! With Mary Kay’s expertise and care, Happy not only greatly improved his function, but also gained joy and confidence through his senior years. I realized early on that Mary Kay possessed the insight into all aspects of her patient’s life and a true compassion to help. She is an amazing professional and has become a personal friend. ”
MAVERICK - Staying bright and strong at 12!!
(severe hip dysplasia, arthritis at shoulders, legs, spine)
“Maverick, my older rescued Irish Setter, has significant shoulder, back, leg and hip arthritis as well as severe hip dysplasia. He tends to be a nervous dog and was quite so in the beginning of his therapy sessions, though learned to trust and relax early on through Mary Kay’s gentle and sensitive touch and treatments. Maverick progressed very well through therapy showing an increased ease of movement and ability to rise from laying positions, tolerates sitting for longer periods, and even trots out to the yard. He continues to enjoy life (and treats!) and I am so blessed to have this sweet boy still going, thanks to Mary Kay’s continued dedication and skills. Now at 12 years old, I hope to keep Maverick happy and bright and strong for a long time!”
OLLIE - Forever the clown!!
(rescue, arthritis, spondylosis)
“Ollie, my now 10 year old rescued Irish Setter, joined in with Mary Kay for Physical Therapy in 2011. Ollie’s back and leg issues did not seem severe at the time, but Mary Kay discovered significant stiffness and pain in his middle back which the vet confirmed as arthritis in the thoracic spine. This was causing him to hunch his back and move somewhat awkwardly. My initial goal was to preserve Ollie’s relatively good status and Mary Kay has not only achieved that but has helped his areas of stiffness and pain and improved his posture and movement. Ollie is and will forever be a character and clown! He tries his best to be first in line when Mary Kay arrives. He is doing very well and thoroughly enjoying his therapy sessions.”
